An obviously essential step in making good homemade bread is baking.
Imagine baking bread at home, and every few minutes you open the door, pull the loaf out of the oven, put it back, turn the oven off, turn it back on… all because you want to control everything: you put it in, take it out, rotate it, poke it, stress it out.
In the end, the result is terrible. The bread never bakes properly, and nobody will eat it.
The exact same thing happens in meditation: we sit down to meditate, but leave the phone on, leave the room door open, and people living with us panic at the sight of someone sitting with closed eyes — so they talk to you, interrupt you, and stress you out.
You need to isolate yourself so you can do it properly. Just for 20 minutes. It’s not a lot!
Life goes on outside; you aren’t missing out on anything. You are turning inward, traveling deep inside to the place where everything originates: the field of all possibilities.
Do not allow something so vital to be interrupted. An earthquake might justify opening your eyes, but everything else can wait 20 minutes without any need to feel guilty.
When you sit to meditate for just 20 minutes, close all communication with the outside world. Create an atmosphere of harmony and silence. Nothing and no one should disturb you for the duration of the practice.
Sandalwood incense is one of nature’s subtlest and most soothing allies. If you enjoy it, light an incense stick before beginning. It helps set a clear boundary between outside noise and inner quiet. This little preparation takes no more than 5 minutes.
And if you don’t do it, that’s completely fine too. You can meditate in a noisy airport or crowded station and still gain great benefits. But practicing at home in peace allows you to dive much deeper.
You can meditate twice a day: ideally once in the morning in quiet surroundings at home, and once in the afternoon or before dinner wherever you happen to be. If daily duties mean you can only do it once, don’t worry: one session done with peace of mind is far better than two or three rushed under performance anxiety.
Practicing like this significantly improves your life — and the lives of those around you, through your waves of inner coherence.
Thank you.
